I’m so glad you’re here to explore the transformative power of yoga with me.
I offer in-person classes in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan, along with a growing library of recorded videos. I host workshops, special events, and private sessions. Whether you're stepping onto the mat for the first time or deepening an ongoing practice, I invite you to dive into this journey of self-discovery and connection.
Together, we’ll navigate the complexities of our inner and outer worlds, tuning into the unique rhythms that make us who we are. Through asana, pranayama, mindfulness, and meditation, we’ll uncover inspiration, support, healing, and a vibrant, welcoming community.
It’s an honor to walk this path with you.
With gratitude,
Carter
My mission is to redefine yoga—not as a set of shapes or rules, but as a living, breathing path toward understanding ourselves and the world we move through. I offer an inclusive practice for every BODY, regardless of shape, flexibility, or experience. Guided by universal truths and a touch of humor, my approach is simple: we breathe, move, feel, and repeat. Be warned—you may encounter freedom, joy, and unexpected laughter along the way. This is a safe space to be real, to be vulnerable, and to explore yourself fully.
My yoga journey began in 1995 with the physical intensity of Ashtanga yoga—a practice that helped me heal from injuries earned on hockey rinks, football fields, and motorcycle tracks. In 2002, after completing my first feature documentary ONE, my path deepened. The film brought me face-to-face with some of the world’s great spiritual teachers—Ram Dass, Thich Nhat Hanh, Deepak Chopra, Robert Thurman—each one lighting the way from the physical body to the expansive mind and spirit within.
That journey led me to study the eight-limbed path of Ashtanga with the legendary Beryl Bender Birch in 2005. With her guidance and blessing, I began teaching immediately—and I haven’t stopped since.
My classes blend the strength of hatha and vinyasa with the spaciousness of yin and restorative practices. Each session is a mosaic, woven from the threads of lineage and lived experience, crafted to support your unique path home to yourself.
